Inequality and Institutions in Industrialised Democracies

Together with Timo Idema and David Rueda, I am convening a comparative political economy conference in Oxford at the start of May (8th and 9th) 2009. A detailed schedule is available. As is a listing of papers to be presented.

The purpose of the conference is to get a select group of scholars from both sides of the Atlantic - ranging from doctoral students to senior academics - to present and discuss innovative work in a small-scale set-up. Our aim is to generate fruitful dialogue within the sub-field of 'comparative political economy' - interpreted in a broad way and without prejudice to method. There is already a diversity of approaches represented in the confirmed participants.
Our substantive focus on 'inequality and institutions' is meant to be tight enough to ensure successful interaction among participants, but broad enough to provide ample opportunity for a range of topics to be covered in the different panels.
